Sumi Yang Reeves
Born in South Korea, Sumi Yang Reeves became an American immigrant at the age of 10. She was raised in Orange County and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder to study Fine Arts, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Sumi has traveled much of the free world working in film and video. She opened a successful production company -Films Limited - in London with director James Lebon and produced many commercials and music videos, including Kylie Minogue, William Orbit, Right Said Fred, and Curiosity Killed the Cat. After returning to America,
Sumi worked in television, feature and independent film production. Sumi was one of eight women to be selected for the prestigious AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women in 2002 and her debut short film is titled “Western Avenue”. The film screened at the American Film Institute and was also selected for a private screening for the AFI Associates Committee. "Western Avenue" made its festival debut at the San Diego Asian Film Festival October, 2003, and has also been selected for KCET's "Fine Cut: Festival of Student Films". Sumi is currently developing a feature length film.
